HRH Prince William of Wales - What a Week!

What a week it was for HRH Prince William.

Two days after announcing his engagement to long time girlfriend Miss Kate Middleton, the prince was involved in a military helicopter rescue that saved the life of a man stuck in the mountains, British defense officials confirmed Sunday. The Prince, who graduated from Sandhurst military academy in 2007, is currently a search and rescue helicopter pilot based at RAF Valley in North Wales.

"First Lieutenant Wales was called out, as part of a four-man RAF search and rescue crew, to assist a man suffering from chest pains on [Mount] Snowdon," a Ministry of Defense spokesman said, according to the AFP.

Greg Watkins, a father of two who was stuck on one of the tallest mountains in the U.K. after he had a heart attack, was just grateful to be rescued on Thursday. When he heard it was the heir to the throne that had bravely flew in the helicopter to his rescue, it took a little while to sink in.

Rescuers had tried to save Watkins on foot, but were unable to move him to safety. The helicopter first landed 700 feet below the sick man, and was told to hold because of the weather. After a few minutes of waiting, with only seconds to get the job done, Prince William safely guided the copter to the Watkins, and once he was on board, flew him safely to a local hospital according to the report.

"I didn't know Prince William was flying the helicopter until we landed at the hospital," he told the British newspaper the Mirror. "Even then, I felt too unwell for it to register much."
"He'd probably say he was just doing his job, but to me he and his crew are heroes. The weather was appalling up on that mountain. How he managed to get the helicopter so close defies belief," the grateful Watkins told the Mirror.

Cricket: England defeat India in one-day series decider

England have beaten India by seven wickets in the seventh and final One-Day International of the series at Lord's, London, England. England win the series 4-3.

India, having won the toss, struggled with the bat. Sourav Ganguly was caught at second slip for 15 runs, and Gautam Gambhir was dismissed for 12 runs. Captain Rahul Dravid was caught behind for a duck, while Sachin Tendulkar was given out caught behind by umpire Aleem Dar for 30 runs. Television replays showed that the decision may not have been right, but India were reduced to 59-4. Dimitri Mascarenhas was the best performing England bowler, dismissing Robin Uthappa (22), Yuvraj Singh (28) and Piyush Chalwa (0), finishing with figures of 3-23. Andrew Flintoff, back in the England side after passing a medical test on his ankle, took 3-45. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored fifty for India, but they were bowled out for just 187 runs.

England's opening batsmen Luke Wright and Matt Prior were both dismissed for ducks by R P Singh in the second over. Despite the early setback England had few problems in reaching the target. Ian Bell was run out for 36, while Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood took England to victory, scoring 71 not out and 64 not out respectively. R P Singh was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 2-40.

India have beaten England by two wickets in the sixth One-Day International of the series at The Oval, London, England.

England suffered early setbacks when Alastair Cook was caught behind for a duck in the first over, followed by Matt Prior falling lbw to Ajit Agarkar soon afterwards. Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen shared a partnership of 59 runs before Bell was bowled by Piyush Chawla just short of 50 runs. Paul Collingwood made just one run before being run out to leave England on 83-4. Kevin Pietersen and ODI debutant Luke Wright both recorded fifties, with Wright sharing 106 runs with Owais Shah. Shah reached 107 not out, and Dimitri Mascarenhas finished England's innings by hitting five sixes off the last five balls.

Opening batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly started well for India, putting on 150 runs before Ganguly was dismissed in the 23rd over for 53. Sachin Tendulkar reached 94 before being caught off the bowling of Monty Panesar to leave India on 156-2 in the 26th over. Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh shared a partnership of 53 runs, with Gambhir scoring 47 runs. Rahul Dravid was dismissed for just four, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 35 before being bowled by Stuart Broad. In a tense finish, Robin Uthappa took India to the 317 run target with two balls remaining.

The seven match series is now tied at 3-3. The final match will be played at Lord's, London on 8 September.

India have beaten England by 38 runs (Duckworth-Lewis method) in the fifth One-Day International of the series at Headingley, Leeds, England.

Indian opening batsmen Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar started quickly, recording an opening partnership of 116 runs before Tendulkar was caught behind for 71 runs and Ganguly was dismissed for 59. Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh shared a 94 run partnership, with Yuvraj Singh reaching 72 and Gambhir scoring 51 runs. After 47 overs of the Indian innings, rain stopped play with India at 286-4. Play soon resumed however, and after Mahendra Singh Dhoni was caught behind for 24 and Rahul Dravid run out on 24 runs, India completed their fifty overs with a score of 324-6.

Chasing a substantial target of 325 runs, England suffered an early blow when Alastair Cook was caught behind off Ajit Agarkar's bowling. Ian Bell and Matt Prior shared a 90 run partnership before Prior was stumped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni for 46 runs. Soon afterwards Kevin Pietersen was caught behind for a duck while Ian Bell was caught behind for 44 runs. Rain once again interrupted the match and when play resumed England faced a revised Duckworth-Lewis target of 311 runs off 45 overs. England captain Paul Collingwood hit 91 not out, but the rain returned after 39 overs and the match finished with England still 38 runs behind the new Duckworth-Lewis target of 281 runs from 39 overs.

England lead the seven match series 3-2. The sixth match will be played at The Oval, London on 5 September.

Prince Harry's speech in full:

Wlliam and I can separate life into two parts. There were those years when we were blessed with the physical presence beside us of both our mother and father.

"And then there are the 10 years since our mother's death. When she was alive we completely took for granted her unrivalled love of life, laughter, fun and folly. She was our guardian, friend and protector.

"She never once allowed her unfaltering love for us to go unspoken or undemonstrated.

"She will always be remembered for her amazing public work. But behind the media glare, to us, just two loving children, she was quite simply the best mother in the world.

"We would say that wouldn't we. But we miss her. She kissed us last thing at night.

"Her beaming smile greeted us from school. She laughed hysterically and uncontrollably when sharing something silly she might have said or done that day. She encouraged us when we were nervous or unsure.

"She - like our father- was determined to provide us with a stable and secure childhood.

"To lose a parent so suddenly at such a young age - as others have experienced - is indescribably shocking and sad. It was an event which changed our lives forever, as it must have done for everyone who lost someone that night.

"But what is far more important to us now, and into the future, is that we remember our mother as she would have wished to be remembered - as she was: fun-loving, generous, down-to-earth, entirely genuine.

"We both think of her every day.

"We speak about her and laugh together at all the memories.

"Put simply, she made us, and so many other people, happy. May this be the way that she is remembered."

Prince William read from Ephesians Chapter 3, verses 14 to 21, at today's service:

"I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. "I pray that, according to the riches of His glory, He may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through His Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. "I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. England have beaten India by 42 runs in the third One-Day International of the series at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England.

India won the toss and captain Rahul Dravid chose to send England in to bat first. England posted a score of 281-8 after fifty overs. After a bright start from opening batsmen Alastair Cook and Matt Prior, who shared a partnership of 76 runs, England were restricted by the Indian bowlers and Kevin Pietersen was stumped by wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for just nine runs. Paul Collingwood scored 44 runs and Ian Bell finished on 79, while R P Singh was the best performing Indian bowler with 3-55.

In response, India faltered early on when Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed for just eight runs followed by Dinesh Karthik an over later for a duck. However Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly shared a 104 run partnership, with both batsmen reaching their fifty, which was ended when Dravid was bowled by Chris Tremlett for 56. In his next over, Tremlett also removed Sourav Ganguly when he was caught behind for 72. India's run chase suffered further blows when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was dismissed for 13 and Yuvraj Singh run out for 45. India were bowled out for 239 runs, 43 runs short of the target. James Anderson was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3-32.

England lead the seven match series 2-1. The fourth match will be played at Old Trafford, Manchester on August 30.
