Alfred Celestain, Hero of Justice

His Excellency the Governor-General announced the addition of another name to the roll of the Heroes of Justice.

His Excellency is quoted as saying "It is my solemn duty to confirm the addition of the name of the Most Honourable Police Officer Alfred Celestain to the illustrious roll of those recognized by Her Majesty and this Dominion as a Hero of Justice."

"The Most Honourable Officer Alfred Celestain, Hero of Justice succumbed on Monday, 11 January 2010, to injuries sustained two days after his patrol car was struck by a drunk driver as he and his partner responded to a call. The drunk driver ran a red light and collided with the patrol car at the intersection of St. Charles Avenue and St. Joseph Street.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital where Hero of Justice Celestain slipped into a coma. He passed away from his injuries two days later. He had served with the New Orleans Police Department for 21 years. He is survived by his parents and three children."

Deputy First Class Hilery A. Mayo Jr. enrolled as Hero of Justice

The Most Honourable, the Marquess of Mobile, has announced the enrollment of another Hero of Justice.

The Most Honourable Deputy First Class Hilery A. Mayo Jr., Hero of Justice, earned his place in the Dominion's highest Order of Honour for those who gave their lives in the servic e of Justice on 9 June 2007.

Deputy Hilery Mayo was killed in an automobile accident on Louisiana 40 while he and another deputy responded to an emergency call. Deputy Mayo had served with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office since 1997. He is survived by his wife, mother, sister, and brother.

We pause to mourn the death of Deputy Mayo and honour his memory. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies, go out to his family, friends, and all the members of his department.

We would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of St. Tammany Parish. And to your family and loved ones, we extend my deepest sympathy.
